I recently heard a true story about a local preacher. The story took place sometime in the nineteen sixties and went something like this. Two neighbors were discussing a gas line explosion that occurred during the night on the other side of the ridge. The loud boom shook the local houses and resulted in a bright orange glow in the sky. Evidently some of the community thought that the Lord was coming back from a discussion the two men had about the local preacher. The first man stated “did you hear what preacher Zack did right after the explosion, he walked right out into the front yard and looked up.” The second men ask why did he do that, and he said, Zack told me that “he went outside to meet the Lord.” I may not have all the facts in this story exactly right but the main point is that Zack was ready and eager to meet the Lord. First Thessalonians, chapter 4, verse 16 and17 tells us that everyone, living or dead will meet the Lord one day. Knowing that this day is fast approaching, where we are going to face judgment (Hebrews 9:28) and give account to God (Romans 14:12), will you be excited or terrified?
