This will be the last time that we meet before the New Year and I would like to share a prayer with you. There will be a lot of people watching a large ball drop while counting down the seconds to when the New Year starts. One place in North Carolina people get together and drop an opossum in a cage to celebrate the New Year. Some people will make New Year’s resolutions about things they would like to do or change in there lives. Most of the time resolutions and good intentions only last a few days before they are broken. People will blow horns and throw confetti into the air and wish everyone a happy New Year. The bible does not mention anything about celebrating the change from one year to another on a calendar, but it does celebrate change when a person is saved (Luke 15:7). My prayer for the church is that it will rejoice many times this year, because a person’s life has been changed through the Word of God.

Another year has come and gone and Sherlene and I would like to wish each of you a Merry Christmas. We would like to thank you for being our friends in Christ and express how much your fellowship has meant to us by thanking you for welcoming us into your lives. This is the season of peace and joy, but let us always remember why we celebrate Christmas. Here are some other reminders taken from 2000+ bible illustrations that you may want to consider.
May the Christmas cheer remind you of Him who said, “Be of good cheer.”
May the Christmas bell remind you of the glorious proclamation of His birth.
May the Christmas carols remind you of the song the angels sang, “Glory to God in the highest.”
May the Christmas season remind you in every way of Jesus Christ your King.

My prayer is that God will continue to bless each and everyone of us this year.

I thought that I would do today corner a little different. I am going to give you the discussion question for Wednesday’s prayer meeting. This is based on a true story. A man and his wife were affected with a serious stomach and bowel ailment. They had a uncle that had lived a long time and new a lot about natural remedies using herbs. He made a potion that looked bad and tasted even worse and told them if they drank it they would not ever be brother with the ailment again. The husband believed him and drank the concoction and he was never brother with the ailment again. The wife for whatever reason did not drink the potion and took medicine from a doctor. She would get better for a time but the sickness keep coming back for the rest of her life.
· How would you use this as a spiritual example to someone?
· Who are the couple?
· Who was uncle?
· What was the potion?
· Did Faith play a part?
· What about the healing?

The prophet last week was Jeremiah. About a week ago Jack Winters told me a story about a conversation between the Devil and his evil spirits. The story went something like this. The first spirit told the Devil that he would go and tell everyone that Jesus never existed. The Devil said, “that will not work because to many people have seen him”. The second spirit told the Devil that he would go tell everyone that Jesus was real, but he did not rise from the dead. The Devil said, “that will not work because to many people saw him after the resurrection”. After a little while a third spirit said that he would go tell everyone that it was all true. Jesus was the son of God and that he died and arose again on the third day for our sins. That whosoever repented and called upon Jesus would be saved. Then I will tell them that they have plenty of time to become a Christian. The Devil said, “that is a terrific idea go and tell everyone”. Even though this story is not in the bible it is never the less true that people are being deceived into thinking that they have plenty of time. The bible always bids people to repent and accept salvation today, because we never know the day or hour that Jesus is coming back.

Here are some clues to another person in the bible. He was the son of the priest Hilkiah who lived in Anathoth. According to a dictionary his name means, “whom Jehovah has appointed.” God saw him in his mothers womb and ordained him as a prophet. He told God that he could not speak because he was afraid of the people and the Lord touched his mouth with his hand. He prophesied the ruin of Jerusalem and that they would go into captivity. Irijah, who was a captain accused him of being a trader and had him put into a dungeon. After Nebuchadrezzar, the king of Babylon, conquer Jerusalem he freed him and sent him back home to his people. After this he wrote in a book all the evil that would come upon Babylon. This is just a little bit of all that the Lord revealed to him and the prophesies that he proclaimed for God. Who is this prophet?
