The Art of Teaching

Observe. Do. Show and tell. Or tell and show… “Teaching teachers how to teach,” is what I called it, The Art of Teaching class I once taught in the 1980s. Students ranged in age from 18 to 20-something. In this small Bible college, the class contained about twenty students with only a couple of them […]

Genesis 11:9

Today’s verse and devotion comes from The Gospel Daily.

Today’s Verse:

Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the Lord did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the Lord scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth. – Genesis 11:9

Genesis 11:9 Have you been praying long for God to change the heart of someone in your life? What exhausting agony there is in waiting for a result that never seems to come! You begin to wonder if it is even possible after a while, or if God will ever really answer that prayer. God truly holds the heart of every man in His hand, as He says, in Proverbs 20:24, for example. The great demonstration of God’s power over man’s mind is demonstrated in Genesis 11. God, in an instant, was able to strip man of his own language and plant in him another. So do not be discouraged; God is able to do far more than you could imagine to ask of Him. Keep praying! – Commentary by Steffanie Howard
Today’s Prayer:
Father, please help bring my loved ones, those who are away from Your will, help them surrender to You. Help me to be faithful to keep praying until this prayer is answered. Amen

Ezekiel 2: 6

Today’s verse and devotion come from The Gospel Daily. I hope it blesses and prompts you to thought as it did me.

But as for you, son of man, fear neither them nor their words when they contradict you and reject you, and when you sit on scorpions. Neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. – Ezekiel 2: 6

Do not be afraid of man, no matter how powerful, wealthy or renowned. The God that we serve is much greater and it is to only Him we answer when called. The Lord has given us a commandment, “Go and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Why then do we sit and watch quietly without ever once opening our mouths? Why is this something that we maybe obey once in a blue moon? Why does it seem radical to us when someone actually obeys this? Why are we allowing fear to hold us back from obedience? Didn’t God give us a spirit of power, love and self-control? If loving God is expressed by obedience to Him, then what does it say about our “love” that we won’t step out because of fear? “You MUST speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen.” – Commentary by Sarine Thomas

Today’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to be bold even when I am afraid. Give me courage to speak the truth in love whenever the need arises. Amen.

Thank you all for being a member of our community. God Bless you all. Have a wonderful weekend.

David
