Ezekiel 2: 6

Today’s verse and devotion come from The Gospel Daily. I hope it blesses and prompts you to thought as it did me.

But as for you, son of man, fear neither them nor their words when they contradict you and reject you, and when you sit on scorpions. Neither fear their words nor be dismayed at their looks, for they are a rebellious house. – Ezekiel 2: 6

Do not be afraid of man, no matter how powerful, wealthy or renowned. The God that we serve is much greater and it is to only Him we answer when called. The Lord has given us a commandment, “Go and make disciples, baptizing them and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Why then do we sit and watch quietly without ever once opening our mouths? Why is this something that we maybe obey once in a blue moon? Why does it seem radical to us when someone actually obeys this? Why are we allowing fear to hold us back from obedience? Didn’t God give us a spirit of power, love and self-control? If loving God is expressed by obedience to Him, then what does it say about our “love” that we won’t step out because of fear? “You MUST speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen.” – Commentary by Sarine Thomas

Today’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, help me to be bold even when I am afraid. Give me courage to speak the truth in love whenever the need arises. Amen.

Thank you all for being a member of our community. God Bless you all. Have a wonderful weekend.

Faith in Fear

Today I share not only the verse but the devotional content from The Gospel Daily. Click on their name if you’re interested in receiving a daily devotional from them.

For I am the LORD, your God, who grasp your right hand; It is I who say to you, “Fear not, I will help you.” – Isaiah 41:13

When God asks us to do something, our natural reaction will most likely be fear. Fear of the unknown, of rejection, of ridicule, of failure, the list goes on. It’s OK to be afraid. He never chastises anyone because they are afraid to do something that He asks of them. He will however, correct someone who runs away or disobeys Him. So today if you are standing at the edge of the cliff between obedience and self-preservation, take this verse to heart. Imagine that He is standing with you right there on that precipice. He takes your hand and says, “Remember child, I am the LORD your GOD. I am the one who is saying this to you and not anyone else: Don’t be afraid because I am the one who is helping you.” – Commentary by Sarine Thomas‏

Today’s Prayer:

Heavenly Father, you know I am afraid, but I trust in you. Help me to overcome my fear and step out in obedience to you. Amen.
